The talk

We are at an inflection point. The tools are changing faster than any of us can keep up with, and the loudest voices keep saying the answer is more speed, more scale, more output. I think we are missing the real erosion, which is a shortage of leaders willing to serve the people in front of them.

I open with the rope. Picture yourself hanging off a cliff, one person on the other end. You do not ask for their resume. You ask what they are made of. That instinct, the one that knows character matters more than credentials when the drop is real, is the thing we have quietly stopped teaching.

As machines take over the execution, the scarce thing is no longer skill. It is judgment, steadiness, and the willingness to hold the rope for someone else. Values are not the soft part of leadership. In the years ahead they are the whole job.

I close where I always land it. Leadership is service. It is taking personal responsibility to serve others, and aligning a team to a set of values that carries it forward when the easy answers run out.

What the room is buying

A room that leaves with language for why the human parts of leadership are becoming more valuable, not less, and a reason to invest in them now rather than after the next disruption.

45 to 60 minutes. For conferences, executive audiences, and universities.

Bring this to your team.
